Aminata's story

Aminata is 56, married and the mother of six children. She lives with her husband and her children in the district of Kouloukoro, prefecture of Koutiala, (Sikasso region). She left school prematurely so she took up money-earning activities more than 15 years ago. She has engaged in various activities such as buying and selling firewood, homemade soap, condiments, etc. She has been a client of Soro Yiriwaso for more than eight years. She took out group (solidarity) loans and now she is on her seventh individual loan, with all the preceding loans correctly reimbursed.

Aminata intends to use this loan to buy various items to stock: sacks of "fakoye" and "bissap" (hibiscus flowers) and traditional soap. She makes her sales in front of her door, for cash, to a mixed clientele. With this loan she expects to make a profit of 50,000 f CFA per month, which she will use to reimburse the interest charged by Soro Yiriwaso, contribute to the daily expenditures of her family, and invest the rest in her business.
