A loan of $3,925 helped a member to buy more sacks of charcoal and restock his small shop.

Green Tomalin Group's story

Masoud, a married man with three children, has been running two activities: selling charcoal and operating a small shop selling rice, beans, soft drinks, etc. Masoud has been in these businesses for two years. Masoud, who is in his early 30s, works from 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. each working day and is able to make a fair return per month.

This is his 6th loan request from Tujijenge Tanzania and Masoud will use it to buy more sacks of charcoal and restock his small shop business. With the previous loans, all of which he paid back successfully, he bought more charcoal, a shop freezer, and started a small shop business. He is doing fine and it shows. With his business profit, Masoud bought a radio, mattress and bed, sofa set, gas cooker and DVD player. Masoud dreams that one day he will be able to buy a pick-up type of cargo car.

He will share this loan with his loan group, Green Tomalin, which totals 9 members. The members of the group will hold each other accountable for paying back the loan.
