A loan of $375 helped to buy nutritious food for her animals.

Maria's story

María who is 19 years old is a happy woman who lives with her husband and their 2 children, María Elena and Anaís, whom she looks after in the house which she bought 4 years ago. With the help of her husband she works every day looking after her crops, mainly potatoes and corn, but she also makes use of her time to look after her animals. She has cows, pigs and sheep which she sells when they are mature. She says the livestock helps her to support her family as it gives her a steady income. The cow provides milk every day and she sells the milk to a well-known company. Her husband also does ploughing with the bulls he has and for this he gets paid well every day. Now María wants to improve the quality of her animals so she can get better profits from the animals she has.

This is her first loan with Kiva and she hopes that with the financial support she will be able to continue. She promises to pay her instalments punctually. María will use the 1000 soles to buy nutritious food in bulk to feed her animals.
