A loan of $375 helped to buy food products such as rice, sugar and drinks.

Marisela's story

Marisela is 28 years old and is a modest woman. For the last 4 years she has lived in a rented house with her son. From being a young girl she learnt about agriculture and since then has built up all the necessary knowledge to work in agriculture. She is good at growing plants but since she is an intelligent woman she spotted a need in her town- there wasn't a food store- so she decided to open one. She now has 3 years' experience and in all that time she has been able to acquire more food items and stock her business. "It was difficult to start because at the beginning I only had the basics, but gradually I was able to buy more" says Marisela, who gets up very early every morning to serve her customers. Now she wants to keep on improving all the time.

This is her second loan with Kiva so she hopes to be able to continue with her financial support. She also promises to pay her instalments punctually. Marisela will use the 1000 soles to buy rice, sugar and drinks for her food store.
