A loan of $450 helped to purchase ingredients to stock her food business, including rice, meat, oil, condiments, soft drinks, plastic silverware and cooking utensils.

Paola's story

Paola is 35 years old and lives with her husband and three children in their own house. Paola makes a living cooking and selling traditional food dishes Monday through Friday out of her home, where she has set up tables and chairs to accommodate customers. She also travels around selling her food dishes in town. Since she makes delicious, high quality food dishes and sells them at reasonable prices with wonderful service, Paola has grown her customer base and has created substantial demand for her various dishes. With 20 years of experience in this trade, Paola knows exactly how much food to prepare for each day of the week, and she rarely has any leftovers. In the mornings before she opens up her food stand, Paola works as a housekeeper in a nearby home.

Paola loves to cook, and she learned all her culinary secrets from her mother. While she does not like the taxing routine of waking up extremely early to prepare all her food for the day, she does not let these challenges dampen her spirits and positive attitude. With the support from this loan, Paola plans to purchase ingredients to stock her food business, including rice, meat, oil, condiments, soft drinks, plastic silverware and cooking utensils. She hopes this investment will help her to expand and strengthen her business ad eventually be able to purchase more tables and chairs so she can accommodate more customers.
