Nueva Generacion - Sayllapata Group's story

A group of residents from the community of Sayllapata formed the "Nueva Generacion - Sayllapata" communal bank in the province of Paucartambo in 2013. There are no industries, businesses or banks in the community. However there are large agricultural fields, so the majority of the population works in agriculture and livestock farming. Santusa is 51 years old, and was born and still lives in the community of Sayllapata. She is a responsible and friendly person who is successful in her principal economic activity, which is raising small animals such as guinea pigs, chickens and pigs, and also works in agriculture. She has several fields where she grows potatoes, barley, wheat and broad beans. She needs a loan now to buy more small animals such as guinea pigs and chickens, in order to increase her business capital. The members are grateful for the opportunity provided and commit to making their respective repayments within the specified time period. (The woman in the red skirt is the wife of one of the communal bank members.) (The community of Sayllapata is located in the Colquepata district, in the province of Paucartambo, in the department of Cusco, Peru.)
