A loan of $375 helped to buy organic manure.

Juan's story

Juan, 38, is married with three children living with him in his own house. Juan’s work consists in selling bananas, manioc and other products he grows on his farmland.

For a long time he suffered many reverses in life because of the terrorism that assailed the city and he didn’t have a source of income of his own for his house. Because of this, about 12 years ago he started a new project growing alternative products that the government provided such as cocoa beans, coffee, bananas and others. Also, when he’s home he sells assorted, various flavored carbonated beverages. He likes what he does because it gives him time to care for his house and since he started his business he’s been doing well economically because he now has two sources of household income.

He wants to continue growing which is why he’s thinking about increasing his sales. Therefore, this is his first Kiva loan and he feels grateful for the support he gets to continue forward; he also commits to make his payments punctually. He will use the requested 1,000 soles to buy organic manure for his crops.
