A loan of $550 helped to purchase sewing materials such as thread, elastic bands, doilies and fabric for her sewing business.

Sobeida's story

Sobeida is 44 years old, and she lives with her husband and their two grown children in their own home. Sobeida operates a sewing business out of a small workshop in her house. The most popular products she makes are sheets and pillow cases, along with shirts and blouses. She started her business with the purchase of a sewing machine and a few fabrics and materials, and her operation has grown ever since. Up until now, Sobeida has been able to purchase all the necessary materials for her business with money she had saved up from the past 20 years of working at her food sales business. She still works on the side selling food to generate additional income.

The aspect Sobeida likes best about her sewing business is the freedom it gives her to exercise her creativity and dexterity in each garment she makes. She also loves seeing the gratitude and excitement on her clients' faces when they receive their new clothes. Sobeida is grateful for the financial support that this loan represents, and she promises to make all scheduled repayments on time. With the support from this loan, Sobeida plans to purchase materials or use in her sewing business, including fabric, elastics bands, doilies and thread.
