A loan of $500 helped to buy two young bulls to fatten in his pasture.

Luís René's story

Luis is 53 years old. He is married and has 2 children. He learned to work as a farmer and in livestock at an early age since his parents could not send him to school. He was always busy doing agricultural activities since it was the only source of income for the family.

Every day he gets up at 5:00 in the morning in order to take his cattle to pasture, walking about 2 kilometers, and in the afternoon he puts them in their corral, giving them some water and a bit of hay. The rest of the day he spends working on his crops of cassava and corn.

In order to buy good breeding cattle he has to travel to Tiangue in a truck. The trip takes about 40 minutes. He looks at many animals to find those he likes, later buys them, loads them on the truck and returns home.

He is asking for a loan in order to buy 2 young bulls to fatten on his pasture. This will help him to increase the number of animals he has and his sales will continue, as well as his income, and he can provide more of what his family needs.
