Maria's story

46-year-old María is a single mother who lives in her own home with her four children. She has a business selling regional fruits and vegetables such as papaya, oranges, and bananas among others. She works from home and has set up a large table to exhibit the products she offers to her customers. She has also started to produce and sell jams made ​​from more mature fruits.

María's house is located in a busy area which brings her very good daily business. She has had her stall for over four years and usually works alone, although sometimes she receives help from her children. She also sells soft drinks and ice cream to complement her fruit business, and the earnings from this help her to cope with the cost of running her household.

María enjoys her job because she is able to make a living from an activity which is not strenuous, and it allows her take the necessary time off in the evenings for other activities. This is María's fourth loan with Kiva, and she is grateful for the financial support she has received to help her move forward. She agrees to comply with the payment schedule in a timely manner.

With the amount requested of 800 soles, María will buy more regional fruits and vegetables to stock her business.
