Sanniquelle, Liberia / Restaurant

A loan of $275 helped to purchase more stock for her business.

Oretha's story

Oretha lives in Sanniquelle, the capital city of Nimba County, where living conditions are much better than in the capital of Liberia. Nimba County is rich in natural resources and the second most populace county in Liberia.

Oretha is 30 years old. She did not go to school, and she is unmarried. She has a six-year-old child who attends school and lives at home. Oretha established her business with a little money from her fiancée. She said, "I learned this local business from my friends." Presently she runs a cook shop (restaurant) selling rice and dough made of cassava. She sells from Monday to Saturday spending ten hours at her business. A problem she faces is that she does not have enough dry-meat, fish, rice, cassava, etc. in stock. She is requesting a loan to purchase more stock for her business. Her plan is to one day build a shop.
