A loan of $1,800 helped a member to buy electrical gadgets for resale in Mutare and farms around the town.

Mavambo Group's story

Greetings from Zimbabwe! This is 29-year-old Cecilia from Mutare. Cecilia is a member of Mavambo Group. She is married with two children, one attending school. She also cares for two dependants. Cecilia runs a retail business selling electrical goods, kitchen utensils and groceries. The business has been in operation for two years. She says the main challenge she is facing is high import duty at the border posts. Cecilia has requested a loan of $600 to buy electrical goods like televisions and stoves to supply to farmworkers around the town. She says the extra income generated as a result of this loan will allow her to improve her family's welfare. In the future Cecilia plans to operate a shop in town.
