A loan of $1,050 helped a member to buy fertilizer, gasoline, and to pay for labor costs.

Sareth's Group's story

Sareth, a mother of four children in her early 40s, is a local farmer who strives for a living via rice cropping on three hectares area, and working as a schoolteacher in the area. She has been involved in the current business for 10 years. With this loan, she and her co-borrowers in the same group of three are fourth-time borrowers with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). She has fully repaid her past loan wisely to uplift her livelihood. Now, all of the members, including her, are taking out a loan of 1,400,000 KHR each. As the leader, she will spend her loan portion to buy fertilizer, gasoline, and to pay for labor costs. She hopes that she can gain double the yield from her crops and earn a better income than last year.
