A loan of $1,000 helped to buy agricultural products for cultivating coffee.

Ma Romana's story

Doña Romana is 45 years old, married, and is in great health with a lot of energy and desire to work. In her community, she is characterized as a friendly, respectful, and selfless woman, who works together with her son and their 5 children. The family works planting and cultivating coffee, which Doña Romana learned as a small girl in the company of her parents. They taught her how to work the earth as they could not support her with her studies due to the family's scarce economic resources. As a result, she dedicated herself to her work in order to help her family get ahead, although the income that she makes is very little and used mostly to purchase food. Her coffee crops are located about an hour away from her house by foot. Her dream as a mother is to be able to educate her children so they can live in better conditions one day, and to give them a better quality of life.

Doña Romana is asking COMIXMUL for a loan in order to buy fertilizer and other chemical products in order to best tend her coffee crops. She hopes to obtain a better production and greater income as a result.
