A loan of $1,000 helped to buy agricultural supplies for growing her coffee.

Vicenta's story

Vicenta is a 24-year-old housewife and farmer, with 2 children who are at school in different grades of education. She has had 3 years of primary education and along with her live-in partner she works in agriculture. She specialises in growing coffee and also grows corn and beans, products which are sold to various buyers who visit the area looking for products of a good quality and price. The crops are located in the property where she lives and she carries out the various tasks such as clearing the land, applying fertilizer, watering, pruning etc. at the end of each harvest. At present one of the biggest challenges is the fall of prices in the marketplace and the rising cost of the supplies she needs to maintain the crops. This is why Vicenta has asked the COMIXMUL cooperative for a loan which she will use to buy coffee fertilisers: 13 quintals of formula 12-24-12, 8 quintals of formula 18-46-0, 6 quintals of ferty café, 8 kilos of nutri café and 6 bags of positrón which she will use to protect and nurture her crops. Her plans for the future are to increase her harvests by buying more land and to grow a better, more attractive variety. Her dream is to be able to send her children to university so they can follow a specialised course to become successful professionals and can have a better standard of living.
