A loan of $500 helped to purchase organic fertilizer, foliar fertilizer, urea and other items to cultivate coffee.

Ma Matias's story

Matías is a 32 year old married woman. She enjoys excellent health, is energetic and very motivated to work. In the community, she is characterized as a very friendly, respectful, helpful woman who works along with her husband and five children. Her family is engaged in coffee planting and cultivation, which she learned from her parents when she was very young. As her parents had limited financial resources and could not support her education, they taught her how to work the land. Then she decided to learn to work and help her family get ahead. However, the income from working the land was a small amount and the money was distributed specifically for food. Every day, she walks to her coffee crops, which are located five kilometers from her home. As mother of the family, her dream is to be able to provide her children with higher education so that they can live in good conditions and have a better, higher quality of life.

Matías is requesting a loan from the Comixmul cooperative to purchase 4 quintals of urea, 4 quintals of 18-46-0 fertilizer, 4 quintals of 12-24-12 organic fertilizer, 6 liters of foliar fertilizer, 3 gallons of herbicides, and other items to help their crops. In this way, she will obtain a better production and, therefore, higher profits from the sales.
