Marta's story

Marta is 44 years old and married. She has a primary school education because her parents didn't have the resources to help her finish her secondary schooling. nonetheless, they taught her to work the land. The business they have now is growing basic grains such as corn and beans, and now she is starting to grow coffee in order to obtain more income for her family. She is the mother of 2 children. The oldest is 19 years old. He finished junior high school and decided to help his father in the fields. Their younger daughter is 16 and in the first year of upper high school in a nearby community. Her crops are located approximately 5 minutes from her house. They go there every day, since she, her husband and her son work there. The grains they grow and harvest are sold in the same community.

Marta has asked for a loan with which she plans on buying 2,300 units of seedlings (little coffee plants). She will also buy 5 quintals of urea, 5 quintals of 12-24-12 formula and 5 quintals of 18-25-0 formula. Another part of it will be used to prepare a parcel of land she has to plant the seedlings.

One of Marta's dreams is for her daughter to graduate so she can become independent. for her business, she hopes to be able to plant the coffee so that in the future it will generate earnings which she will invest in expanding her business so she can build assets for her two children. .
