Mohamad is a 43-year-old married man from Lebanon who lives with his wife (a housewife) and four children who are still attending school. In 2007, after 25 years of experience working as a butcher, he decided to open his own butchery in the town where he lives. He offers fresh meat to his customers and that’s what attracts more people.
Today, Mohamad is requesting to borrow a loan from Kiva partner Vitas s.a.l to expand his operations by purchasing a new refrigerator in order to keep the food in good condition, and a new cutting machine that will ease his work, especially as the old one has almost become rusty. Mohamad is very optimistic and only cares about expanding his work to earn a higher income and better support his family, especially because he is the main and sole income source.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
