Burulkan's story

Burulkan is 51 years old, married and a mother many times over - she has five children. She has a high school education. After she finished school, Burulkan married at a very young age. Since 1993, she has been farming and raising livestock, a business she started with 20,000 som KGS. Her husband is a shepherd, driving herds for the other residents in their village. Thanks to her hard work, Burulkan now has a good farm with two dairy cows, 20 sheep and three horses. The income from the farm has allowed Burulkan to increase the herd on her farm and to improve her family's well-being. With the goal of developing her business further, Burulkan has turned to the microfinance bank "Bai Tushum and Partners" for a loan of 110,000 som (KGS) to buy cows. She plans to use the income from this business to increase her herd even more, and she plans to save up some money for her daughter's college education.
