Kimsan's story

Kimsan is 47 years old and married. She and her husband are raising three children. She has a higher education and works as a teacher at the local school. Kimsan's husband works as a tractor driver. Her oldest son sells cell-phones. Her other two children are still in school. (In addition to her teacher's job), Kimsan is also involved in animal husbandry, which provides her family with an additional source of income. She started in this business 15 years ago, using 16,000 som (KGS) to buy some livestock. Thanks to her hard work and to the support of her family, she now owns two cows and 20 head of smaller livestock, and she makes a monthly income of 6,000 som (KGS). In order to further develop her animal husbandry business, she has turned to the microfinance bank "Bai Tushum and Partners" for a loan of 100,000 som (KGS). She will use her loan to increase her herd by purchasing some cows. She plans to invest her earnings from this loan into further increasing her livestock headcount.
