A loan of $400 helped to rent land, to buy fertilizers, herbicides and insecticides to use in a preventive manner and to plant 7,000 square meters of corn.

José Deonicio's story

José is 49 years old, studied up to the 9th grade and is married. His wife is a housewife and raised six children, but only three live at home with him, none of whom are studying. The rest of his children are married. Four people depend on him, his three children and his wife.

José makes a living from agriculture and has dedicated himself to this productive business for 35 years. He learned the work from his parents, who were farmers for their entire lives. He is an entrepreneurial person with the desire to overcome, and he learned the trade of plumbing. The place where he plants is approximately 1 km from his house and he travels there by bicycle. The members of his household who help him with the crop are his three children and his wife. They work from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m., and when it is necessary they also work from 3 p.m. to approximately 5 p.m.

The loan will be used to rent land, to buy fertilizers, herbicides and insecticides to use in a preventive manner and to plant 7,000 square meters of corn. Due to the fact that he didn't have capital to invest in the planting, his need will be satisfied with the loan.

José's dream is to improve the infrastructure of his house, and the best present he can give his children is to raise them in a responsible and honorable manner so that they will become good people. The loan will help him because he will have income to maintain his family. Next year he plans to sow a greater quantity of land.
