Khaliskhan's story

Khaliskhan is 73 years old, married and has raised four children together with husband. Her daughters and sons are married. Khaliskhan's eldest son has a disability.

Khaliskhan has higher pedagogical education. For a period of 30 years she worked as a teacher at the local school, relentlessly bringing up the younger generation. Khaliskhan is known as a principal, honest and good-hearted person. Her long experience and dedication to her work earned Khaliskhan great respect among the villagers.

When retiring, Khaliskhan decided to not sit back, and since 2003, searching for a source of income for her family, she started her business of livestock breeding on her farm, and also doing field crop cultivation. After having started with 6,000 som (KGS), her business currently brings in a monthly income in the amount of 8,000 som (KGS). Khaliskhan has two dairy cows with offspring on her farm. She also has a plot of land of 0.51 hectares, where she mainly grows potato, onion, peppers and sweet corn. Khaliskhan invested the income from the business in increasing the number of cattle on her farm.

To further develop her business, Khaliskhan turned to the microfinance bank "Bai Tushum & Partners" for a loan in the amount of 40,000 som (KGS) for the purchase of cows. Khaliskhan plans to spend the income from the loan on increasing the number of cattle, and in the future she also intends to purchase an apartment for her son.
