Maria Elena's story

Maria is a 39-year-old woman. She lives in the city of Ica, in the Parcona district, with her husband and three children, whom she loves and are her principal reason for living. She is a very kind, hard-working, and enthusiastic person, who along with her husband dedicates all of her efforts to bringing her family out ahead. Unfortunately, because of a lack of economic resources and the necessity that she had of working from very young, Maria was not able to study for a career in education.

Through her own initiative, Maria works in her small business selling groceries and drinks. She works every day for approximately 10 hours and believes that it is going well for her because of her good prices and dedication to her job.

Maria is very thankful to the Kiva lenders, since thanks to the help provided, she will buy a larger quantity and variety of products. In this way, Maria will have her store better stocked and be able to attend to more customers. So, she will continue working and making an effort to achieve her greatest dream of seeing her children become good professionals.
