A loan of $1,075 helped to buy organic fertilizer.

Eugenia's story

Eugenia, who is 56 years old, is a hard worker. She is married to Felix and has two children. She lives with them in the house they own.

Eugenia works several jobs. In the morning she works as a janitor for the local administration, from whom she receives a monthly salary, and then in the afternoon she takes care of her crops. She grows corn, potatoes, and fava beans, which she sells at the wholesale market in the town of Huancayo, where she is very well known for the quality of her products. On the weekends she sells ornamental flowers downtown. She says she travels monthly to a nearby town to buy flowers of different kinds. She is well known because she has been doing this for over twelve years. But since she makes the most of every opportunity, she also raises animals like sheep, pigs, and cows, which she later sells at a higher price, when they are mature.

This is her third Kiva loan, and she is grateful for the financial support she receives in order to keep going. She also promises to pay her installments on time.

Eugenia will invest the 3,000 soles in the purchase of organic fertilizer to use on her crops.
