A loan of $775 helped to buy pigs and animal feed.

Blanca Sara's story

Blanca is a member of the communal bank "Soledad del Valle" which she likes because of the solidarity and companionship of the group and because the loans help her improve her business. She lives in the Valle Parish in Cuenca, which is a place with much natural beauty and green pastures where one can relax and get away from busy city life. Local people here are involved in livestock farming, agriculture and commerce.

Blanca, 30, is married and has three children, ages 13, 11, and 9. Her eldest daughter is in middle school and the two younger children attend the local elementary school. Her husband works as a stevedor and they live in a house that is on loan to them.

Blanca is a homemaker and also works in agriculture which she learned from her parents. The produce she grows is for home consumption and any surplus is for selling. She also raises pigs and works every day on the farm.

Her new loan will be used to buy pigs and animal feed. Her dream is to have her own home.
