Prosperidad (Cuenca) Group's story

The Prosperidad communal bank is made up of eight female members and one male member who live in the city of Cuenca, a city known for the beauty of its architecture. Cuenca is the birthplace of athletes and writers, and its people uphold their culture and traditions making their livelihood in sales, rearing animals and agriculture and many people carry out different types of work in the city.

One of the members of this group is Ana, she has been a member of the Prosperidad communal bank for 12 years and during all of this time she has cultivated wonderful friendships with all of her colleagues as well as seeing her family's situation improve with the loans.

Ana is 62 years old, she is married and the fruit of her marriage is four adult children who are married and live on their own. Her husband helps her at home as he is retired, and the home in which they live is their own.

Ana has been making her living as a seamstress for the last 30 years, she makes sports clothes and linen, she works from Monday to Friday without a fixed work schedule. She learnt this trade from her mother-in-law who passed on this work.

She will invest her new loan in the purchase of threads and fabrics. Her aim is to buy more machines to expand her workshop.
