Vainuu is a 34-year-old married woman with 4 children. She has a small plantation and grows taro, taamu and bananas to earn a living. She has been doing this for many years. Vainuu has requested a loan to buy chemicals, fertilizer, a backpack sprayer and a rake.
She has been a member of SBPD since 2009. With her profits, Vainuu hopes to improve her house and save more for her children's education.
South Pacific Business Development (SPBD) improves conditions for families living in poverty by providing accessible credit, training, and guidance to help them start, grow and maintain micro-businesses, build assets, finance home improvements, and afford to educate their children. 99% of SPBD’s loans go to women, who can borrow in groups to guarantee one another rather than put up collateral.
