A loan of $1,075 helped to purchase CDs and light show equipment.

Martha Valentina's story

In the Rocafuente canton, the members of the Organized Women Communal Bank meet every two weeks. This area is known for its delicious sweets, prepared by the locals and famous throughout the country. It is also where Martha lives, who is 28 years old and has three children aged 12, 6 and 4 with her partner. The two oldest children go to school and her partner has a business renting out a mobile disco, which he hires out for parties. Martha is an excellent stay-at-home mother who is helping her husband by applying for this loan, which he will use for his business; he generally rents out his mobile disco and light show equipment two or three times a week at parties or events. He has been in this business for more than 6 years and and has been able to support his family with his income. He will use this loan to purchase the additional CDs and light show equipment he needs to offer better service. Martha has been involved with the Communal Bank for almost two years and likes being a member because she has been able to help her partner with the loans she receives. Her dream is to have her own home.
