A loan of $1,000 helped to buy agricultural supplies for her coffee crops.

Elva Amparo's story

Elva, age 42, is a tenacious and enterprising woman with a great desire to succeed and get ahead. She is married and has two children who live under her roof. She attended primary school up until the third grade.

Together with her husband and their children, and with great experience in maintenance, clearing the fields, fertilizing, and cutting coffee, she struggles every day in order to get ahead. This business activity is her only source of income to support her family. Planting and cultivating coffee was instilled in her by her parents when she was young. She has been doing this for over 20 years, and she now does it in her own way.

She is currently requesting help to buy fertilizer and manure to provide maintenance on her coffee crops. She will do this so that the harvest will be healthy and profitable, to be able to generate income, to get earnings, and to be able to continue investing in the crops.

Her short term goals are to be able to save her own capital and to have it available to work in her own way, expanding her crops, and giving more of herself to this way of working. She wants to strengthen the family legacy, which her own children will inherit. They are now involved in the farming activities.
