Santa Barbara, Honduras / Agriculture

A loan of $1,425 helped to buy agricultural supplies for her coffee crop.

Blanca Luz's story

Blanca is 27 years old, she is a young enterprising woman with a keen desire to excel in life. She is married, a housewife, a coffee grower and mother to two children. It is in the company of her partner that they work every day to get ahead in life. Blanca has a full primary education thanks to her parent's financial support. She has been making her living in coffee for five years, a trade she learnt together with her partner, and the plots that they cultivate together are inherited from her parents.

She has sought financial support from the COMIXMUL communal bank to buy agricultural supplies such as fertilizers, urea and coffee crop formula which help to protect her crops from rust and the coffee borer beetle among other pests and illnesses which damage the crop.

Blanca's plans for the future are to cultivate a better variety of coffee to offer and compete in the market to get ahead in life, and to one day export her product as a high-quality product. Blanca's dream for the business and her family is to obtain a larger harvest as already mentioned, and to complete her children's education up to university level.
