A loan of $1,450 helped to buy agricultural materials and inputs.

Benita's story

Benita, 22, is single and has a dependent daughter, 2. She makes a living growing peanuts, beans, and potatoes so she can feed and educate her young daughter. For reasons beyond her control, she wasn't able to continue the family relationship with the father of her daughter, so she decided to live alone. Her parents help her with the agricultural work.

When the river that borders her property rose, a flood of mud and other materials damaged her peanut and bean crops, causing her income to drop. In addition to the rise in the river, freezes in June affected her potato crop, leaving it in very unfavorable conditions.

For all these reasons Benita's economic stability has suffered, directly affecting her acquisition of the materials and inputs she needs for her agricultural work and to feed her family.

To rectify this she has requested a loan so she can improve her quality of life and stabilize her economic needs.
