Kaduna, Nigeria / Farming

A loan of $150 helped to access high quality inputs such as fertilizer and improved seed that will double his yields and income.

Yahuza's story

Yahuza is a 25-year-old farmer from Pampaida Dutse. As a Babban Gona member, he is excited about the opportunity to finally have access to credit, good markets and a trained agronomist. Like all Babban Gona members, he can earn up to $1,350/ha this season from his maize farm, double the average Nigerian farmer’s annual income. He plans to expand his farming business speedily with his increased earnings. With this loan, Yahuza is on his way to achieving these dreams. His most recent loan from Babban Gona provided him with enough fertilizer to optimize his yields and access a product that eliminates a food toxin in his maize, enabling his family to eat healthier maize and for him to get a premium price for the maize he sells.
