Ayuba's Group's story

Salone Microfinance Trust (SMT) a partner of Kiva.org based in Makeni, northern Sierra Leone, is very pleased to present to you this group of teachers from Bo, a city in southern Sierra Leone. This group of teachers has come to SMT to apply for a loan of SLL 26,100,000 for the entire group. With the help of this loan, they are being empowered to meet their most immediate and most pressing financial challenges. And at the end of each month, they can easily repay the loan, using their monthly salaries. It is their school’s bursar who is directly responsible for doing the deductions and making the repayments on their behalf.

Ayuba is the featured borrower of this group of teachers. The 42-year-old is a native of Bonthe town, in southern Sierra Leone. He is married to a trader and the couple has three children who are attending primary and secondary schools. Ayuba has been a school teacher for 16 years now. He has requested this loan in order to buy house-building materials like iron corrugated sheets, cement, etc. for the construction of a dwelling house.
