A loan of $3,000 helped a member to pay the school fees for his children.

Joseph Ben's Group's story

Pictured here are primary school teachers from the southern city of Bo. They have come to SMT, a partner of Kiva.org, based in Makeni, Northern Sierra Leone to apply for a loan of SLL 13,100,000. With the help of this loan, these teachers will be able to meet their most immediate and most pressing financial needs. And at the end of each month, they can easily repay the loan, using their monthly salaries. It is their school’s bursar who is directly responsible for doing the deductions and making the repayments on their behalf.

Joseph is the featured leader of this group of teachers. Joseph is a native of Njala Konboya. He is married to a housewife and the couple has five children who are attending schools. Joseph has been a professional teacher for 33 years now. He has requested for this loan in order to pay the school fees for his children.
