Shamsudin's story

Shamsudin lives in the Rumi region in the southwestern part of Tajikistan. He is 42 years old and he is married with six children. Shamsudin works as a driver. He has a KAMAZ truck in which he transports goods to their destination. Is is very hard and tiresome work. Shamsudin wants to start a business raising and selling cows and bulls. He is interested in this business because it is lucrative and it doesn't require hard work. At his home, he has a two-story barn (20x4.5 meters) in which to keep livestock and 50 bales of hay. Shamsudin plans to buy, raise and sell four head of livestock every month. To start his business, he is asking for a loan of $1,500. With the money from that loan, he can buy four head of calves and bulls. He wants to use the income from this business to make repairs to his home and improve his standard of living.
