A loan of $1,000 helped to buy farm supplies for her coffee crop.

Maria Adriana's story

María, 21, is a homemaker and farmer. She has a five-year-old son and the two of them live alone. She received a full elementary education thanks to financial support from her parents who also taught her from a very young age to work on the farm as it was the family tradition. María and her partner plant and grow coffee and sell to neighbors and friends in the area. The land they work on is in the same area where she lives so maintenance, care and assistance is easier. The main challenge every season is to cultivate and harvest a quality crop by making it better each day.

María and her partner work hard to offer the best possible product and service to customers, because this allows them to attract more people to buy their product. This is why she is requesting a loan through the COMIXMUL institution. She will use it to buy farm supplies that will help maintain a good leafy crop and a good coffee bean.

Her future plans include improving the quality of her crop by planting new varieties such as borbón and caturra which are a little more expensive but better quality. This will allow her to earn more income so she can give her son an education and better lifestyle.
