A loan of $725 helped to buy hairstyling products and palm nuts.

Marcel Donwahoué's story

Marcel lives in Benin, is 38 years old, and is married to Antoinette, who is a merchant. Marcel lives with his wife and their four children, who have all been to school, as well as two other children from his family.

For the last four years, he has borrowed regularly in order to ensure the needs of his family are met and to be able to offer his children an opportunity that he did not have: to go to school.

Marcel has been a hairstylist for more than 15 years now. He is known through his village for his professionalism and his kindness. Many customers come to him wanting hairstyling products, because he is the only person selling such products in his village.

Marcel has also started selling palm oil as a side business.

With this new loan of 350,000 francs CFA, Marcel is going to invest 200,000 francs CFA in buying hairstyling products and 150,000 francs CFA in buying palm nuts to process [into oil].

Earnings will allow him to increase his savings in order to realize his dream of buying some land for his children.
