A loan of $375 helped to buy seedlings.

Cirila's story

Cirila, 47, is a woman married to Edilberto and she has three children living with her in a house built of adobe. Her main activity is agriculture that she carries out on a two-hectare parcel she bought with her husband in a locality near home. She started in this activity more than 15 years ago with the objective of earning income to support her children and to plant some products like organic cocoa beans, coffee and citrus fruit that are typical of the zone.

She works on her land every day with the only objective of providing adequate maintenance so that a good quality crop yield will be obtained at the end of the season. In addition to her husband’s help she often hires local laborers to help her do the complicated chores like weeding and transporting the sacks of dry cocoa beans.

She’s thinking about making some improvements on her parcels like replacing several cacao trees that are damaged and no longer able to produce quality fruit. One of her main long-term goals is to build her house out of substantial materials hoping to improve her quality of life and that of her children; this is what keeps her motivated always.

This is her third Kiva loan and she feels grateful for the financial support she gets to continue forward. She also commits to make her payments punctually.

On this occasion she wants to have 1,000 new soles to buy seedling plants to have ready to place in her crops.
