A loan of $650 helped to buy creams, colognes, cosmetics and items of stationery.

Enidia's story

Enidia is 61 years old and and lives in the town of Puerto Colombia, department of Atlántico, 13 km from the city of Barranquilla and part of the metropolitan area of the city. The Caribbean coast is nearby to the north, so her most important business is tourism. She lives with her husband and they have three children aged 30,32 and 35.

Enidia runs a general store where she sells items of stationery, cosmetics, hand and body lotions, perfumes, colognes and lingerie. She has been doing this for 2 years following a suggestion from her neighbours who encouraged her to start this business up in her home. She buys her supplies in cash from wholesale stores in the city of Baranquilla. She sells on a cash basis to neighbours and people referred by them. She opens her shop every day from 7 in the morning until 7 at night.

This is Enidia's first Kiva loan with the Fundación Santo Domingo and she will use it to buy creams, colognes, cosmetics and items of stationery. With this investment she hopes to be able to increase her sales and her profits, and put some money into savings. Her medium term goal is to continue to increase her range and to refurbish her house.
