A loan of $2,700 helped to purchase furniture for her new home-based studio and to update her website to host virtual courses.

Shayla's story

This loan will help Shayla remodel her home-office into a professional space to hold classes and workshops for her childbirth education business.

Shayla graduated from Florida A&M University with a degree in Construction Engineering Technology. However, although she worked in the construction field for several years, Shayla realized her true passion after she gave birth to her first of five children. Finding beauty in child birth, Shayla wanted to share her knowledge and excitement with other women. In May 2008, she began Birthdiva, LLC, a business that teaches women about child birth and coaches other birthing professionals how to best help their own clients.

Her business is quickly gaining popularity. In order to keep up with the demand for her courses, Shayla needs a loan to turn her home-office into a professional studio. This loan will be used to purchase furniture and to add a separate door for privacy, as well as to update her online website so she can hold virtual courses in order to expand her services to mothers and professionals residing outside of her local Maryland community.
