Mrs. Assata is 43 years old and married with six children. She lives with her husband in a nuclear family in Banankoro in Sanankoroba commune in the Koulikoro region (second administrative region of Mali) She was forced to leave school at an early age in order to be married, but she quickly started to work in trade with her husband for the purpose of financing her own needs. She has been working for five years now and has a large clientele of mainly women. She enjoys a very good reputation in her business as she serves the customers from the capital. To increase her stock in the interests of both answering the needs of her customers and enhancing her business, she appealed to Soro Yiriwaso, she has been working with Soro Yiriwaso for 12 months. After a first individual loan correctly repaid, this is her second individual loan which she intends to use to buy 200 bags of charcoal and a lorry load of firewood, she buys her stock locally from the young people of her village and the neighbouring villages. Mrs. Assata sells her wares for cash or credit to her customers who are mostly women. With this loan she plans to make a monthly profit of 100 000FCFA which will enable her to pay for certain family expenses.
