A loan of $800 helped to purchase more medicine to sell.

Sylvia's story

Sylvia is 33 years old and lives in the town of Lugazi in the Mukono region of Uganda. She is married and has three children who are all currently in school. For the past ten years, Sylvia has been working hard to manage her drug shop, which sells drugs.

To help expand her business, Sylvia has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase more medicine to sell, and will help Sylvia to generate greater profits and take care of her family’s needs. Sylvia hopes that in the future, she will be able to become a very powerful entrepreneur.

Sylvia is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Sylvia who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
