A loan of $625 helped to buy coffee seedlings, manure, and other supplies to plant and maintain her coffee crop..

Celia Patricia's story

Celia, 40, has two children: the oldest is 14 and is in the third year of high school; and the youngest is 12 and in the first year of high school. Her husband is a farmer and is in charge of the coffee crop. Their income source is coffee sales. Celia heads the business operations associated with sales, but she also helps her husband with cutting and transporting the coffee. She learned this trade from her parents and continues to work at it with her husband.

As an enterprising women, she also earns money selling cosmetics and selling food to seasonal harvest workers. The land she and her husband own is about four minutes from their house. Their coffee customers are local stores that sell coffee exclusively.

She has applied for a loan to buy coffee seedlings, manure, and other supplies to plant and maintain her coffee crop. She dreams of seeing her children graduate from college, as she and her husband were not able to finish school. Her business goal is to expand as much as possible so that her children will have a bright financial future, a goal she is optimistic about if pursued with wisdom, effort, and good administration of the profits.
