A loan of $525 helped a member to purchase cosmetic products to sell.

N’Tekokoumamen Group's story

The group N’TEKOKOUMAMEN is composed of five women, who average 35 years of age and four children each. They live in traditional extended families with their husbands, co-wives, brothers, and sons in the HEREMAKONO NORD district of Bougouni City. They know one another through ties of community, friendship, and commerce. To bolster their financial capacity for operating their businesses better, they joined the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso and are now on their first loan.

This group of women does commerce in cosmetics through FLASSOUN, who is standing in the middle in the photo. She buys and sells cosmetic products and intends to use her loan to purchase 5 boxes of creams and 4 boxes of perfumes in Bamako. Accepting cash or credit at the market and at home, she makes her sales to a customer base composed essentially of women. She envisions making an average monthly profit of 22,000 francs CFA that will be invested in her business and used to pay back the loan.

In this group: Flassoun, Debi, Sali, Fatoumata, Kadiatou
