Fred's story

Fred lives in the Kitale area of the North Rift region. This land is known for its vast maize and sugarcane production. He is married and has six children, all of whom are school aged. He has practiced farming for ten years. His primary income is from tomatoes, beans, maize, and milk, which he sells at Chwele market. In addition to farming, he has a shop in Bungoma. He wants to increase his production and therefore has requested a loan of 46,800 KES to finance his purchase of a dairy cow. This will lead to an increase in income, and as a result he will be able to pay for his children's school-fees. In five years, Fred wishes to have grown to better level in terms of agricultural activities.
