James's story

James lives in the Kitale area of the North-rift region, a land known for maize production. He is married and has three children, all of whom are still of school-going age. He has practiced farming for 21 years. His primary sources of income are maize, poultry, eggs, and beans, which he sells at Namwela market. He also has a retail shop as an extra source of income.

He wants to expand his poultry farm by adding more poultry, which will result in more income through selling more poultry and more eggs. The income he gets from this project will enable him to pay school fees. The challenge he faces is poultry diseases. In five years, he wants to have improved on poultry-keeping and other agricultural activities.
