Stellah resides in the Kitale area of the North Rift region. She is married and has four children, of whom three are of schoolgoing age. She has practiced farming for thirteen years. Her primary source of income is from selling maize, beans and milk. She wants to increase her milk production, and so she has applied for a loan from Juhudi Kilimo to buy a dairy cow. This will help her get more income by increasing her milk production. The income will help educate her children with ease, and also improve their living standards. The major challenges she faces are unfavorable climate change and diseases. In five years’ time, she will have improved her farming activities. Stellah appreciates the support Juhudi Kilimo has given her.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
