Evaline's story

Evaline is a married woman. She has four children, with ages ranging from 5 to 20. She describes herself as trustworthy and straightforward. She operates an M-pesa shop, where she offers M-pesa services, i.e., withdrawing and depositing money. She has been involved in this business for three years. Her business is located in an accessible area, and her primary customers are of all types. She describes her biggest business challenge to be lack of float for the business and the illiteracy of her customers. She will use the KES 20,000 loan to add float, i.e. money for clients to withdraw. Her business goal is to put up more businesses within five years. She hopes that, in the future, she will have a stable life. This is her first loan from SMEP DTM. She will use the anticipated profits to open another M-pesa branch.
