A loan of $600 helped a member to buy fertilizers for her farmland.

Chanthou's Group's story

Living in a rural area located in Banteay Meanchey province’s Moungkul Borey district, Chanthou is a 45-year-old mother of five children. She is a farmer in the local area and supplements her family’s income by working for others for a fee. Having been in the business for several years, she can make daily income from her current business of about 35,000KHR and is able to save about 20,000KHR per day after expenses for future needs.

This is the fifth loan for Chanthou with Kiva’s partner, VisionFund. Now she is leading her group to apply for a loan. As the leader, she is going to use her portion to buy fertilizers for her farmland and use a portion to pay labor fees. She hopes to earn a higher crop yield so as to improve her standard of living.
