A loan of $550 helped to buy milk and cheese in bulk.

Edith's story

Edith, 37, is a brave mother. She lives with her two children in a house she has been renting for sixteen years. Her income comes mainly from selling cheese and milk in bulk, and she has been doing this for many years since these products have a high demand. The first days of every month, she buys several blocks of cheese and milk by the liter. After buying enough, she has to travel for an hour and a half to the closest city. She then delivers the orders to customers that have previously put them.

“I do well with my job, since the milk and cheese that are produced in my town have good quality and taste different. This is why I have a lot of customers,” she says. Edith travels fortnightly to a nearby town to sell her products. This is her second loan with Kiva and she appreciates the financial support she is receiving to get ahead. She promises to pay the installments on time. Edith will use the 1,500 soles [PEN] to buy cheese and milk in bulk to sell.
